Tobias Bärtsch (b. 1993 in Walenstadt, Switzerland) is a Swiss-Polish artist and writer living and working in Zurich, Switzerland.

As an interdisciplinary artist, I work with any media that fits the concept or acts as a generator of surprise.

Often my artistic projects start out in texts and connect to my writing practice. Both are rooted in an interest in exploring an “age of fragmentation” and it’s impact on identity formation.

My work often focuses on internet subcultures, particularly the escapist notions prevalent within these subcultures, and explores both the impoverished and rich languages used in the digital sphere.

I am interested in looking at the ways in which technology has transformed memory and the role of the individual in a world where technology often seems to have agency over its users.
