Tobias Bärtsch (b. 1993 in Walenstadt, Switzerland) is a Swiss-Polish artist and writer living and working in Zurich, Switzerland.

As an interdisciplinary artist, I work with text, installation, and digital media to explore narratives that move between local folklore and global myths.

I am interested in how folkloric legends, urban myths, memes, movie tropes and conspiracy theories function as collective desiring-production. How do they process social fears, desires, and experiences of loss? These narratives often feel like ghosts in the now half anonymous digital sphere, somewhere between escapism and ideological hardening. 

I see these weird narratives as symptoms of cultural exhaustion but also as possible ways out of it.
